YAG Laser Treatment
The YAG laser is a precise, outpatient laser treatment used to restore clear vision when clouding develops inside the eye after lens replacement procedures, such as cataract surgery. This clouding can result in blurry or hazy vision, glare, difficulty with reading and night driving. A YAG laser treatment is designed to correct this issue quickly and safely without the need for incisions or a traditional surgical setting.
Snead Eye Group offers YAG laser services for patients in Fort Myers, Naples and the surrounding areas.

A YAG laser is a specialized medical laser used in ophthalmology to treat certain conditions affecting vision. This technology is utilized in a treatment called YAG capsulotomy. It treats posterior capsule opacification, a condition in which the thin membrane holding an artificial lens becomes cloudy.
The YAG laser creates a small opening in this membrane, allowing light to pass through clearly again, restoring perfect vision. YAG laser treatment is highly precise and does not involve cutting or stitches.

YAG Capsulotomy is a laser-based procedure that’s performed in our Fort Myers or Naples surgery centers. Eye doctors recommend this procedure when vision becomes cloudy or distorted due to changes in the lens capsule. Symptoms may include blurred vision, reduced contrast sensitivity or glare from lights.
During a YAG laser capsulotomy, the doctor is able to use the laser to precisely treat the affected tissue while avoiding the surrounding areas. The procedure typically only takes a few minutes and doesn’t require sedation.
Some patients may see improvement in vision almost immediately, while others notice gradual improvements over a short period of time.
