Blepharoplasty is a procedure that removes excess skin, fat and tissue from the upper or lower eyelids. Depending on your needs, it can improve your field of vision, reduce eyelid heaviness and create a more refreshed, youthful appearance.
Who Is a Candidate for Eyelid Surgery?

You may be a candidate for eyelid surgery if drooping eyelids affect your vision, your eyes feel heavy or tired or excess skin makes you appear older than you feel. Heredity, age, diet, gravity and pollutants can cause the skin surrounding your eyes to relax and loosen.
During your eyelid surgery consultation, our ophthalmologist will help determine whether blepharoplasty is the right option for your goals and eye health.

Blepharoplasty can be performed for medical, cosmetic or functional reasons. While some patients choose eyelid surgery in Fort Myers or Naples to gain a more refreshed look, others benefit from improved sight and greater comfort when excess eyelid skin interferes with daily activities.
Upper and Lower Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)
At Snead Eye Group, we perform blepharoplasty in Fort Myers and Naples on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids or both. The type of procedure we conduct depends on your symptoms and treatment goals.
Upper blepharoplasty removes excess skin and tissue from the upper eyelids. We recommend upper eyelid surgery for patients whose drooping eyelids interfere with their vision, making their eyes feel heavy or creating a fatigued expression. This procedure is multi-functional as it can improve vision and appearance.
Lower blepharoplasty focuses on the area beneath the eyes by removing or repositioning excess skin and fat. This procedure can reduce under-eye bags, puffiness and loose skin to create a smoother, more refreshed look.
During your evaluation, we’ll evaluate your eyelids, discuss your concerns and work with you to determine whether upper blepharoplasty, lower blepharoplasty or a combination of both is the best approach for you.
