While in optometry school, she would do clinicals in the Health Centers in the poor areas of Boston. Most of the patients didn’t speak English, so she learned interpersonal skills, specifically how to communicate with patients to assess their problems.
Dr. Kate Maloney completed her optometry residency focused on ocular diseases at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Connecticut, where she trained under the state’s top Glaucoma and Retina Specialist. Dr. Kate Maloney joined the Snead Eye group in September 2020.
She is a member of the American Academy of Optometry, the American Optometric Association, the Florida Optometric Association, and the Southwest Florida Optometric Association. Dr. Kate Maloney enjoys all aspects of eye care, including comprehensive exams, pre-and post-operative care of cataract, glaucoma, and eyelid surgeries, as well as ocular disease management.
Dr. Kate Maloney works to improve eye health awareness in the community. She also works closely with primary care physicians and Internal Medicine Specialists to build awareness of the importance of an annual eye exam for all patients, especially diabetic patients and all other patients at high risk. She will continue Snead Eye Group’s educational outreach by providing lectures and complimentary vision screenings throughout the area.
