Dr. John Snead, founder of the Snead Eye Group, has been a dedicated and caring eye care professional since 1979, placing him at the forefront of his profession. Originally from Alabama, Dr. John Snead completed his undergraduate degree at Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, AL. He graduated from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, where he received his medical degree. Then, he obtained his internship, residency and fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco.
Dr. John Snead is board-certified in ophthalmology and completed a fellowship in Eye Microsurgery in Melbourne, Australia.
He is also a fellow of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. John Snead is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the International Society of Refractive Surgeons, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American College of Eye Surgeons. He is also a member of the Florida Medical Association, Lee County Medical Society, and the Collier County Medical Society.
Dr. John Snead is one of the most accomplished physicians in his field, and he is consistently recognized within his professional community for his exceptional patient care. During his vast career, he has saved the vision and life of numerous patients by diagnosing diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and various types of tumors.
He is heavily involved in the SWFL community. In addition to maintaining clinics in Lee and Collier counties, Dr. John Snead regularly gives his time and talents to help those in need through organizations such as the Lions Club and EyeCare America. He also lectures within the community, performs free public eye screenings, and provides treatment options to those in need.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing the piano and studying the French language.
