Community Involvement in Southwest Florida

Through its See Well, Be Well Initiative, and as a service to our community, Snead Eye Group offers thorough free “Vision Check-up” events at a variety of locations throughout Southwest Florida. These events have been held at real estate developments, retirement communities, social forums, health fairs and job fairs. During this free service, our knowledgeable staff conducts a vision screening and a slit lamp exam in order to detect any vision problems, such as the beginning of cataracts, decreased vision due to other diseases/impairments or loss of peripheral vision as a result of droopy eyelids.

Thanks to the generosity of the Bonita Springs Lions Club, many people in need of eye care can now be treated. Located in the heart of Bonita Springs adjacent to the Lions Club Thrift Store, the eye clinic serves those in need of eye care and glasses for free. For many men, women and children who cannot afford eye care, glasses or surgery for eye problems, the clinic is an answer to many prayers. Dr. John Snead and his staff have partnered with the Lions Club to help make it a success. Staff members and doctors from Snead Eye Group will be volunteering time for examinations, educating the public on eye health, and assisting in fundraising efforts for the eye clinic.

Lighthouse of Southwest Florida’s mission is to enable people of all ages living with a visual impairment or blindness to remain independent, active and productive in our society. The talented team of credentialed professionals provides a variety of rehabilitation and support services to people who are experiencing vision loss and blindness. They offer rehabilitation and support to people of all ages, from babies to older adults, as well as support and education for their families and caregivers.

In addition to comprehensive eye care, the Snead Eye Group provides comprehensive eye care, surgical evaluations and treatment of many eye diseases. Specializing in curing cataracts using state of the art technology, Dr. Snead also performs eyelid surgery, which is often covered by insurance.
